Typing Text gif (How To)

Helloooo
This is a tutorial on how to make the gif effect like the one on my sidebar

1. Make a text layer and write a quote, a name. Whatever you want. {layer 1}

2. Make another text layer and fill it with this → | (my keyboard shortcut for that is alt+1, yours may not be the same, if you can’t find it just copy and paste) {layer 2}

3. Once your two text layers are made, add a layer mask to your layer 1
(you can rasterize the layers if you want, it’s optional)

4. Well then, click the layer mask and set white as your background color and black as your foreground color like this:

5. Now you have to paint (with the paint bucket tool) the mask layer. It should look like this:

6. Ok then, as you can see on my sidebar, there is a blinking cursor at the beginning. It’s optional, If you want to do it, all you have to do is duplicate your first frame and hide layer 2 by clicking on its layer visibility (the eyeball on the left of the layer).

Duplicate your last frame, and turn on the layer visibility again. (you can do it as many times as you like, three are ok for me)

7. Now, duplicate the last frame again. Get back to the layer 1, click on the mask layer and erase the first letter of the text. This layer should be visible only on the fourth frame. So, if you can see it on another frame, turn off its visibility.

Now, move the layer 2 to the right of the first letter. (you can use your keyboard arrows, it’s easier that way)

8. Well then, duplicate the last frame, turn off layer 1 visibility and duplicate it. Now, turn on the visibility of your duplicate layer. Erase the next letter, and move layer 2 to the right of the letter (like you did before ~step 7)

9. Now, repeat step 8 until you get to the end of the text. (duplicate the last frame, turn off the visibility of the last layer, duplicate it and turn on the visibility of the new duplicate layer and blablabla)

10. And at last, you can repeat step 6 at the end if you like.

your frames and layers should look like this (or similar)

11. Save as a gif (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+S) and that’s it.
